It is a story of friendship and bravery overall and it has a hope, which makes all the difference to me. I like This Is Not My Hat, but not as much as Extra Yarn.

Brandy--I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to YA. It is often too dark for me, especially the realistic fiction. But I value your opinion and will look for this one! I believe it got 5-6 stars, also.KateCoombshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05584944601221466789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144605744535591088.post-3312979445635426702013-01-29T13:02:40.499-08:002013-01-29T13:02:40.499-08:00Kate how have you not read Code Name Verity???? I wasn't as pleased with Jon Klassen's double win as everyone else seems to be, but I guess that's the beauty of books, right?Amy https://www.blogger.com/profile/13204075881543478509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144605744535591088.post-46177849937160712892013-01-29T05:56:50.369-08:002013-01-29T05:56:50.369-08:00That's so cool, Louise! I just revised the post because I realized he won, not two, but three awards: the third is the YALSA award for best YA nonfiction. And do read the King George book--it's a hoot. Where else would you learn that one of the founding fathers was showing off for his girlfriend the night of Paul Revere's famous ride? And that she basically rolled her eyes?KateCoombshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05584944601221466789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144605744535591088.post-89461998786106627942013-01-29T04:24:10.075-08:002013-01-29T04:24:10.075-08:00I borrowed Extra Yarn from the library after readi...I borrowed Extra Yarn from the library after reading your review, and my 5yo loved it. Had us read it to her once, and then read it over and over again on her own. Definitely an award-worthy book!

I have got to read Sheinkin's books. The titles alone make my fingers itch to crack them open!Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17840731400749105419noreply@blogger.com
